Patch v5.2.0 released


We've released another patch for Episode 5. The files are included below the changelog. You can either grab a patch only version (which you just extract over your existing Episode 5 directory) or grab a full download.

5.2.0 Changelog

  • Overhauled Jane's Plasma Railgun:
    • Now acts as an automatic plasma gun, but when scoped fires its existing projectile for 3-ammo per shot.
  • Loadout screen changes:
    • Readjusted some boots sizes so they don't overlap with the GUI
    • Added night/heat vision googles to the hover visualization
    • Added Rosa's and Wheaton's first-aid kit sprite
    • Added Rosa's boots, night/heat vision and armor sprites
    • Changed Marten's conjuration book icon from a sword to an actual book.
    • Added bombshell's turret, rosa's vampiric bats, kagura's ninja potion and wheaton support radio.
  • Minor interactables (food, drink, props) now require the player to be looking at the item.
    • This fixes not only hoovering up entire tables of food with once press but also means that players can't grab food from behind glass as long as the glass is blocking
  • Fixed several minor mapping issues across all episodes, too many to list.
  • Added new Hell Nailer temp weapon to Episode 5
  • Fix for the HUD disappearing when slow motion kills are disabled.
  • Fixed softlock in Egypt Catacomb map
  • Fixed END_LEVEL being subtracted in the display code, which broke level transitions for very high refresh rates/FPS caps.
  • Added more magic orbs to many maps of Episode 4
  • Updated Conservator AI; was a total pushover so long as it didn't actually hit you.
  • The ammo dispenser at the shooting range can now be used multiple times instead of only once.
  • All character HUDs should now behave correctly when melee weapons are used.
  • Buffed ally Shadow Ninja HP to 1000 from 150.
  • Fixed accuracy issue with Kagura's CZN weapon.
  • Reduced frequency of Rusty's skeleton kill quotes.
  • Jane's arm blade doesn't try to escape from the loadout screen anymore.
  • Corrected Jane's heat vision icon.
  • Vorpal sword does x2 damage now.
  • Healing potions and medkits now have a teal colour instead of just blue.
  • Boosted sound of marv electrocution, was too quiet.
  • Added text mentioning Kagura's ability to use shadow gates
  • Added previously unused popup sounds to popup prompts in command interface
  • Player now says 'thanks' when being healed by allies, to make it clearer when healing is taking place.
  • Fixed pitfiend sliding around.
  • Fixed uppercut not working on Rusty, Maarten and Merlijn.
  • Several fixes to Geoffrey's HUD, mana should now show up correctly.
  • Jane's HUD shows mana and hides ammo count on melee correctly.
  • Fixed MJ12 shotgun/nade animation not having 5-angles.
  • Fixed bots in Snowfall's intro map being set to enemies.
  • Magic bridge won't fade away in Atlantis now.
  • Added teleport backup from softlock-ish area in Titan Gas.
  • Added pickup text to all keys.
  • Added text describing key needed for locks.
  • Fixed shotguns not loading alternate shells on first attempt.
  • Added (auto) text to end of items like the gasmask to explain they're used automatically.
  • Fixed being unable to equip last 4 artifacts as Highwire.
  • Bombshell's HUD fixes, Spirit and Fire armour, as well as mana, is now visible.
  • Fixed earth model being flipped in base maps.
  • Fixed crawling zombie not unlocking main enemy's bestiary info.
  • Cultist's HUD now displays mana count of current weapon.
  • Rusty's HUD: phantom steed icon won't collide anymore with energy shield/armor numbers
  • Marten's HUD: magic crossbows is now correctly hiding the secondary ammo block
  • Removed player green tinting from VR, was broken.
  • Made downloading/uploading VR stuff a bit quicker, 3 seconds instead of 4.
  • Fixed Loadout text for Energy Shield showing the wrong value.
  • Made C4 stand out more in EP5 Glacier map.
  • Fix spiders sometimes becoming unkillable.
  • AMC soldiers only teleport if above 50HP and are set to follow the player.
  • Buffed James' Jackhammer a bit.
  • Fixed some weapons not making a dry firing noise when empty.
  • Added text to heat/night vision goggles in Loadout menu when vision mode toggle is researched.
  • Fixed potential softlock with red key slots in Episode 5's Dark Campus map.
  • Fixed punches and kicks not going through energy shields.
  • Added mouseover text to admin key explaining that it unlocks all swipe locks.
  • Added mouseover text to plug keys explaining they can be pulled out again.
  • Precog brain now shows icon for armour type of enemies that were previously fought.
  • Added spinning animation to Wheaton's laser gatling gun.
  • Fixed translucent Satyrs in one of the Abyss levels.
  • Fixed Kagura's Ice Minigun and Wheaton's laser gun not being fireable until spooled down.
  • Fixed able to sidestep/roll, ninja roll, quick kick and crouch while riding a horse.
  • Fixed some zombies not being flammable.
  • Fixed Sang's F2000 grenade reload animation having the wrong hand.
  • Corrected forward and backward key character selection on the UI.
  • Updated Ice Minigun so spikes rotate with barrels.
  • Several texts on the Loadout were corrected to properly represent which weapons penetrate different enemy resistances.
  • Removed string "-Can be upgraded" from Kagura's shadow realm weapons. They cannot.
  • Enemies set to ALLIED_FACTION no longer sets enemies_cleared to 0, fixes softlocks in certain maps.
  • Fixed Pribor firing 3 bullets at once.
  • Fixed old AMC TC era portraits on news in Mars TV.
  • Fixed KSG-12 missing firing sound in certain circumstances.
  • Fixed some wrong gestures in Episode 3 Egypt intro.
  • Fixed Advanced Commander sometimes sliding around instead of moving properly.
  • Allied projectile bullets don't make bullet whizzing noise.
  • Fixed old Episode 2 Mars cutscene playing after FMV, instead of being replaced.
  • Fixed Trenton teleporting instead of walking in Episode 2.
  • Nerfed Lizman Enforcer damage a bit.
  • Moved rope even further down in Geoffrey's E5 map, to make progression clearer.
  • Updated Jungle base jumping secret with climbable claw marks (was nearly inaccessible beforehand).
  • Nerfed forcefield health in Jungle Base.
  • Fixed some corpse sizes in Zeta Base 3.
  • Sang's Unmaker weapon now takes 1 ammo per shot instead of 2.
  • Fix for Episode 4 Hydra not being reset.
  • Potential fix for Sawblade weapon.
  • Fixed several typos across the game's text.
  • Updated zombie scientist to use zombie flame death.
  • Fixed jumping over fence in EP5 intro subway bit.
  • Fixed ninja sword not doing spirit damage.
  • Added ep4/ep5 debriefing viewing buttons to mission interface.
  • Fixed blocking light in Crimson Abode.
  • Bunch of tweaks/adjustments to guns brought up in feedback.
  • Updated Thoth knowledge to make it clearer it reduces tech level requirements.
  • Fixed footprints in Providence disappearing.
  • Removed one of the hidden switches in the bedroom in Black Manse.
  • Also in Black Manse, tied both the final door and the room door to the same switch so people don't miss it and walk out the room.
  • Added footprints leading up to the above switch.
  • Fixed weapon holstering whilst sprinting.
  • Added mission objective to boat lift in Rtlalok map explicitly saying to drive hovercraft onto lift.
  • Fixed skull knight/squire adding to kill count when not perma-killed.
  • Fixed crawling zombie adding to killcount when it could resurrect.
  • Fixed subtitle in ep1 intro.
  • Fixed Snowfall Vajra device text appearing too early.
  • Fixed Snowfall appearance at the end of Episode 3.
  • Fixed spirit lost stayput actor not behaving correctly.
  • Fixed Micky's appearence in Elysion town hub.
  • Fixed Rosa's Loadout getting removed on game exit (leftover cleanup routine).
  • Fixed some characters not receiving their energy shield when they were supposed to.
  • Fixed broken level end when revisiting one of Episode 2's secret levels.
  • Fixed Gauss AR having grenade key toggle.
  • Fixed "Situation Green" text in portal room in one of the base maps.
  • Fixed cart shadow actor being duplicated.
  • Fixed a ceiling light not being set to shootable in the code.
  • Fixed Dracula's castle checking wrong map completion on command interface.
  • Fixed chaingunsprite giving infinite 40mm grenades if slot3 ammo is full.
  • Fixed James' flamberge saying "akimbo".
  • Increased Magic Orb count for sheep 'quest' in Episode 4 to 3.
  • Geoffrey's default pistols now have spread on them.
  • Fixed dropped Geoffrey grenade tile number being incorrect.
  • Added stun scan to Snowfall's default shotgun
  • Fixed duel wielded shotguns ejected shell positioning; now ejects out of left side gun properly
  • Transformation spell disabled on Cyberdemons
  • Mongur won't charge if there's pillars close to him (within 4096 units)
  • Add version display to main menu.
  • And many more changes, most of them too minor or technical to list here!
  • Change Nightvision recharge to 20% instead of 13%, updated research text.
  • Added additional check to disable slo-mo-showdown if its set to 0 in options.
  • Fixed issue with crashing when killing siren underwater.
  • Fixed Zaxtor per-map tiles.
  • Fixed music track list only being populated if shuffle was on.
  • Fixed base music not reading fish status
  • Fixed typo in Micky's guns akimbo description.
  • Fixed lava nail soft lock in the training map.
  • Fixed shadow potion going below 0.
  • Fixed James' armor sometimes being set to 0.
  • Fixed Highwire's SVD not being reloadable.
  • Fixed energy bizon/M41C not stating that alt-fire requires energy cells.
  • Fixed errant sprites in Xuglop mall.
  • Fixed softlock in sarcophagus in Cairo dig.
  • Fixed energy cell ammo indicator appearing on Geoffrey's HUD.
  • Fixed character swap reverting player to first base map in EP5.

  • Fixed parry not being reset on weapon swap
  • Fixed water splash/rain droplets appearing if advanced effects are off
  • Fixed Kagura not having phantom steed, added to Sang + Rusty with HUD elements too.
  • Fixed Phantom bike not being usable for Rosa.
  • Fixed Eris mining location missing from Shipyard
